August 15, 2018 became a busy day here at Foothills Family Resources. Parents and grandparents with school age children lined the sidewalk waiting for the doors to open and welcome them inside.
This is the day of the BIG School Tools distribution, the time when children would receive the necessary tools needed to start the new school year. Book bags filled with notebook paper, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, notebooks, composition books, pencil pouches and yes the hand sanitizer and Kleenex.
This day would not have happened without the generous donation from BMW employees and United Way. Every year when this time approaches United Way finds a company that is willing to go that extra mile to supply children with the tools necessary to start school.
We were fortunate enough to have an extra hand or two on that day as Mary and Debbie with Slater United Methodist and Hannah with SC Thrive gave of their time and smiles to these families. We were truly blessed on August 15, 2018.
For this school year, Foothills Family Resources staff and volunteers distributed 178 well filled book bags to the future scholars of Northern Greenville County.
