Northern Greenville County is a beautiful area located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Nestled in that beauty, families live in poverty and stuggle daily with lack of transportation, lack of education, chronic illness due to inadequate healthcare, and high unemployment.

Our agency was originally established as Slater-Marietta Health and Human Services by a group of concerned citizens who saw the need in the area. In 1986, the group received a grant from the State Reorganization Commission. The Commission's plan was to create what was then termed "one stop shops" for human services at seven different locations throughout the state.

The idea was that if these agencies could each provide a venue for services, the issue of transportation would no longer be a problem.

Our program is the only one of the original seven that remains in operation. We are able to fulfill our mission by offering support staff and space for Greenville County to have satellite offices, and by operating in-house programs.

"It has become a fundamental service to the Community."
